The Covington County Probate Office is the exclusive government agency in Covington County assigned with the responsibility for issuing motor vehicle license plates.  In addition, the office processes vehicle title applications, vehicle registrations, and boat registrations.  This office also issues Alabama driver’s licenses, CDLs, and non-driver IDs, but only for renewals and replacements.  You may also obtain an Alabama Hunting and Fishing license from our office.  The Probate Office is also responsible for issuing State and County (but not City) business licenses.

The “tag line” is open each business day (except for holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Please bring a government issued ID and proof of insurance for all vehicle-related transactions.  Depending on the nature of your business, other documentation will be required.  The Covington County Probate Office accepts cash, checks, Visa, and Mastercard.  The phone number for the license division at our office is (334) 428-2510.  The fax number is (334) 428-2563.
